This reference follows the country and territory records in the bundled data set, which is why the total can differ from lists that count only United Nations members. Each profile preserves the official name and locally used names alongside the familiar English label, making the finder useful even when the name you have is not the one in a conventional index.

Areas are shown in square kilometers. Time zones use IANA identifiers, the same names used by browsers and software libraries, so they are unambiguous around daylight-saving changes. Population values are omitted because the bundled source does not currently carry a consistent census year; the atlas avoids presenting incomparable estimates as if they were measured together.
